From December 2025 to January 2026, we spent a month traveling in Vietnam and Thailand. This was our third trip to Vietnam and our thirteenth (I think) visit to Thailand.
In Vietnam, we visited Saigon, Can Tho in the Mekong River Delta, Rach Gia, and Duong Dong on Phu Quoc Island. In Thailand, we rented a car in Bangkok and drove west to Kanchanaburi, from where we followed the River Kwai westward and stayed at several places along the way. This was the fourth time we had rented a car in Thailand, but the first time I drove in central Bangkok, which was a bit intimidating at first.
Duong Dong, Vietnam
I have mixed feelings about the island of Phu Quoc. I loved the messy town of Duong Dong and that you quite easily could take a Grab to a desolate beach. The beaches near the hotels for the charter tourists are crowded and overpriced. Patches of the beaches are private and reserved for the guests of the hotel owning the property. Lots of tourists dressing and behaving inappropriately.
Duong Dong, Vietnam
We spent a couple of days in Rach Gia before taking the boat to Phu Quoc island. This town was one of my favorite places on the trip - we didn't see any westerners at all. I guess this town doesn't see many tourist. Many of the locals stared, said 'hello' or tried to engage in conversations.
Visiting Saigon for the 4th time, last time was 7 years ago. Renting an apartement in Masteri and exploring the city by motorbike and also using the new skytrain.

Thank you and wonderful photos with a lot of different subjects / diversity. It gives me inspiration for my next trip to Vietnam. Can I ask with FUJI you have used and which film simulation? I have added your blog to my list of blogs for reading/following and learning!
